Not only was I producer of this new web series but I also developed all the branding and design for the show. Its a very important project to me, almost like a kid. We wanted the show to have a”Urban” feel but atthe same time be comedic. The branding also had to speak the Latino demographic. We are working hard on getting the first season funded. You can watch the Pilot season online at EASTWILLYB.com
SYNOPSIS: Rent’s going up, hipsters moving in, but where there’s a Willy, there’s a way! For years “Willy Jr.’s Sports Bar” has been the hot spot on Broadway where you could grab a drink, catch the latest gossip, and bitch about the Mets, but now Willy Jr. may be forced to close. Along with his friends, Willy Jr. designs a plan to keep “Willy Jr.’s” away from his scheming Ex, bring the barrio back in, and restore the bar to its former glory.
I was asked last year to design a flyer for a preview run of a new play by Radha Blank called SEED. They loved what I came up with so much that decided to ask me to build on it and make it the official artwork for the show for its run at The National Black Theater in Harlem. I wanted to shoot a short little promo video for the opening of the new Fresthetic . I was inspired by a poem by my good homie Bonafide Rojas called “A lament for brooklyn”. I also got help from brother from another mutha, John Demato on helping me shoot the shots around brooklyn. I wanted to capture that essence of reclaiming our culture and our communities, which is what we strive to always inspire at Fresthetic. I also always wanted to use the instrumental for Brooklyn Babies, always thought that beat was so hard.
Last Spring, 651 Arts brought me in to document a program they incubated at the Paul Robeson High School in Brooklyn. They wanted me to capture student reactions and views to the closing of their school. With the help of two great educators Monica Williams and Stefanie Siegal, they expressed themselves thru performance and art.
